What We Do:

Sovereign Seed Designs is a practice, a way of working with land, with people, and with place that is rooted equally in ecological science and sacred intention.

We design regenerative, permaculture-based systems on client land. We read the water before we place a swale. We observe the light before we plant a tree. We listen to what a piece of ground wants to become before we put a pencil to paper. And then we build, with our clients, a living plan for how that land can heal, produce, and endure.

Every design we produce is a commitment, to a client, and to the land itself. And every project, no matter how modest, feeds the larger mission of the Sovereign Seed Sanctuary: permanent land stewardship, community resilience, and the conviction that cultivation is prayer.

Sovereign Seed Designs brings over a decade of hands-on regenerative agriculture experience, advanced permaculture design training, and deep familiarity with the specific conditions of Northeast Ohio. We know its clay soils, its frost dates, its native plant communities, its water patterns and weave that into every project we take on.

Site Assessment & Consultation

Every project begins with a site assessment: a thorough visit to your land to analyze soil, water flow, sun exposure, existing vegetation, and your long-term vision for the property. We document what we find, identify what is possible, and offer a clear picture of the path forward.

For homeowners exploring what regenerative design could mean for their land, a site assessment is the right first step. It is honest, practical, and often the beginning of a longer conversation.

Master Plan Design

For properties ready to be transformed, a Master Plan Design is the comprehensive blueprint, site surveys, water analysis, soil assessment, sun and shade mapping, species selection, phasing strategy, and a full implementation roadmap. These documents are built to last and built to be used, not filed away.

Master Plans are tailored to the scale and complexity of your land, whether that is a half-acre homestead, a community garden, or a multi-acre property with ambitions for food production, ecological restoration, and community gathering space.

Institutional & Retreat Center Design

Retreat centers, wellness communities, educational institutions, and nonprofits operate on land with layered purposes, programming, production, hospitality, community. Regenerative design for these properties is an integration strategy.

We work with institutional clients to develop comprehensive master plans that weave food production, ecological restoration, gathering infrastructure, and long-term maintenance planning into a coherent, phased vision. These projects are among the most meaningful work we do, and they often carry grant funding opportunities that make the investment more accessible than clients expect.

Implementation Support & On-Site Coaching

A design is only as good as its implementation. We do not hand clients a document and walk away. We offer ongoing support, site visits during planting, virtual check-ins, seasonal consultations, plant sourcing assistance, and problem-solving as the design meets the reality of the ground.

For many clients, this ongoing relationship is where the deepest learning happens. We teach as we work. Every visit is a small workshop in reading the land, managing soil biology, selecting species, and building the skills that eventually make our clients the stewards their land needs them to be.

Workshops, Education & Apprenticeship

Knowledge shared is knowledge multiplied. Sovereign Seed Designs offers workshops for landowners, community groups, and aspiring designers on topics including permaculture foundations, water harvesting and earthworks, native plant selection, seed saving, soil regeneration, and medicinal herb cultivation.

These workshops are offered at client sites, at the Sovereign Seed Sanctuary farm, and at partner locations across the region. They are designed to be immediately practical, attendees leave with skills and context they can apply the next day.

For those who want to go deeper, we offer a formal apprenticeship track for emerging regenerative designers and land stewards: an immersive program combining hands-on project work, Sanctuary farm experience, and guided study under Bryce Gaetano's mentorship.

Design as Community Practice

We design landscapes. But what we are really designing is the conditions for something larger.

A family that learns to harvest their own food makes different decisions about how they relate to the land. A community garden designed with permaculture principles becomes a classroom that runs itself. A food forest planted on an institutional property becomes a gathering place, a teaching site, a living reason for the community to return.

The 30 to 50 design projects we expect to complete in our first three years of operation are not just individual commissions. They are nodes in a regional network of regenerative demonstration sites, living proof, distributed across the Mahoning Valley and beyond, that ecological design and community resilience are not abstract ideals. They are practical, achievable, and beautiful.

Clients who work with us become part of that network. They receive ongoing support, invitations to farm tours and workshops, access to heirloom seeds and plant starts from the Sanctuary, and membership in a community of people who are, in their own ways, practicing the same thing: the belief that how we tend the land reflects and shapes who we are as people.

Profits That Return to the Land

Sovereign Seed Designs, LLC is wholly owned by the Sovereign Seed Sanctuary. Every dollar of net profit flows back to the Sanctuary's core mission: land acquisition, ecological restoration, spiritual programming, seed preservation, and community education.

This means that when a client invests in a Master Plan Design or an ongoing implementation support relationship, they are not simply paying for professional services. They are contributing, directly, to the Sanctuary's capacity to acquire and steward permanent land, expand its educational programs, and extend its work into new communities.

This is the regenerative cycle made tangible. The design firm serves clients. Clients' investments fund the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary demonstrates regenerative principles on its own land. That demonstration attracts new clients and deepens the community. The community grows stronger. The land grows healthier.

It is the same logic as the food forest: every element serves multiple functions, and the system as a whole becomes more productive over time, not less.

Cultivation is Prayer. Design is Stewardship. Community is Sacred.
